Special Emphases and Seasonal Worship Events

Special Emphases and Seasonal Worship Events

In addition to the three regular worship services each week, there are seasonal emphases and special worship services that occur throughout the year. As we approach Christmas, for example, the Chancel Choir takes over all three services one weekend to offer a major cantata, and on Christmas Eve we gather for two Candlelight service of Holy Communion. We start Lent with the Imposition of Ashes on Ash Wednesday, and on the Wednesdays that follow we have midweek services of Evening Prayer featuring a series of Lenten dramas, preceded by a Lenten supper in the social hall. We offer a full slate of Holy Week services, including Palm/Passion Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil on Saturday at our 5pm service, and a grand celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

We also have . . .

With our three regular services and all the other emphases that are part of our worship, and with all the groups and individuals that are involved in leading worship, planning and organizing all this is more than just a one or two-person job. At Gloria Dei, our Worship Planning Team takes the lead to make worship a time when all who gather are nourished and empowered to share in God’s mission in the world
