Worship Ministries
While the pastor might be physically front and center in worship, there are a lot of other people involved in making worship the joyful event that it is at Gloria Dei. The Worship Planning Team is responsible for coordinating all these people, to create a meaningful, spiritual worship experience during each of the regular weekly services as well as special seasonal services and special emphases.

Altar Guild
This team supports the needs of the altar and sacristy. They meet the second Saturday of every other month, at 9:00 AM.

Acolytes are a very important part of the Worship Service and also play a vital role in the life of the church. Our Acolyte Ministry begins developing Christian disciples and leaders at a young age. By using Samuel, who was an acolyte, as our Biblical model we learn that serving God has humble beginnings. Acolytes are trained to serve in worship, the congregation, and the community. They learn to become leaders by mentoring new acolytes, and planning and participating in programs for the congregation.
Ushers welcome everyone to worship, distribute worship bulletins, lead the offering collection, assist in directing worshippers to communion distribution, and collect the attendance sheets.
Assisting Ministers
Volunteers support the Pastor during worship service. Responsibilities include leading the congregation in prayer, assisting with the presentation of the liturgy, distribution of communion, baptisms, and other worship leadership roles.
Volunteers from the congregation read the Bible lessons and the Psalm, during the worship service.
Communion Assistants
Volunteers assist the Pastor by distributing the sacraments of communion to worshippers.
At the Sunday morning services (8:00AM & 10:30AM), Gloria Dei provides childcare in our nursery (located near the coffee station behind our sanctuary).

Children's Church
During the school year, at the 10:30 am service, Children’s Worship is available. Children attend adult worship with their families until the end of the children's sermon. They then leave for their own worship time, which includes games and/or crafts, return for a communion blessing, and then rejoin their families for the remainder of the adult worship service.
Chancel Choir
Music is another important ministry at Gloria Dei.  The Chancel Choir is a non-audition group of singers who present musical offerings for at least 4 services per month between September and June.  With over 25 singers, they are able to prepare a wide repertoire of music that spans types, languages, and styles, all devoted to our Lord and our offering.  We believe that God provides all music and that He appreciates our offering different kinds in return.
Charis Handbells
The word 'Charis' pronounced "ha' rese" is Greek for 'Grace.'  Our graceful ringers present offerings at least twice per month during the school year.  With about 10 ringers, we are eager to add at least 4 more so that we can get another octave of bells and expand our repertoire of musical offerings to God.  We also attend workshops and sessions to learn more about how to better serve our Lord through ringing.
Sine Nomine
Sine Nomine started as a quartet of singers several years ago, Sine Nomine has become a select audition octet of singers devoted to bringing the excellence of Classical, Jazz, Modern, and Traditional choral music to a very high level in it's musical offerings to God at Gloria Dei.
We participate in drama presentations relevant to scripture, at various times of the year, but particularly during the Lenten season.
Sound System
Volunteers operate the Sanctuary sound system, record and edit service audio, and make the files available in our Audio Library and the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Podcast on iTunes.
