Our Mission
Together with Christ, our mission as Gloria Dei
is to nourish people and empower them
to grow and share in God's mission.

First of all, everyone is welcome…and we mean everyone.

Some of you may have been Christians all your lives and know your way around a Lutheran hymn book, others may have never walked through the doorway of a church, but are looking for a place to start. Regardless of where you are in your journey you can find a place to join in.

Holy Communion is offered at every worship service and all are welcome to share in it.

Our Beliefs

Lutherans are a diverse group of people, convinced that the Holy Spirit is leading us toward unity in the household of God.
  • We believe in the Triune God.

  • We are part of God’s unfolding plan.

  • When we gather for worship, we connect with believers of every place and of every time as we experience God in our midst.

  • When we study the Bible and pray, we are drawn more deeply into God’s own saving story.

  • When we serve others and address social issues that affect the common good, we live out our Christian faith.

Gloria Dei has three different worship services each week, each of which has its own tone, its own rhythms, and its own feel. In choosing which service to attend, some people decide based on the particular style of the worship service, others need a service that fits their work schedule, and still others
bounce around between the different services so as to enjoy the variety.

At Gloria Dei, we are more concerned with you personally, and your needs, than with what you wear. Dress up or dress comfortably, and either way, you will fit in. Whether you were raised in the Lutheran church or are new to it, whether you are here every week or are a one-time visitor, we are happy to see you.
We celebrate Holy Communion at every service. All who believe that Christ is present in the bread and wine are welcome to dine at God's table. (Gluten-free wafers are available for those who need them.)

Gloria Dei encourages young children to worship with their parents in our beautiful sanctuary. We also realize there are times parents need help in order to focus on the word of God.
Childcare: At both of the Sunday morning services, Gloria Dei provides supervised childcare in our nursery, which is located just behind the coffee station in the Welcome Center.
Children’s Church: During the school year, at the 10:30 am service, Children’s Church is available. Children attend worship with their families until the end of the reading of the gospel, at which time they process to the education wing for activities on their level related to the readings of the day. The children return to the sanctuary in time for a blessing at communion, and then rejoin their families for the remainder of the worship service. Pre-schoolers must be picked up from their classroom.
Welcome Center: At every service parents are welcome to sit, view, and hear the service from our Welcome Center while your children have the space to move around.

Wherever you and your children sit, and however you all participate in worship, we are happy to have all of you with us.

Gloria Dei is easily accessible just off of I-29, east on 72nd street. Click for map. We're located just minutes south of the Zona Rosa shopping center. Parking is available at the front and rear of the church. For visitors, there are designated parking spots marked as "Visitor" at the front of the church.
